Welcome to Year 5 of the MD programme at Princess Srisavangavadhana College of Medicine, PSCM.

The Structure of the Year  

The year begins with an Introduction and Orientation week which comprises: 

  • A general introduction and orientation to Year 5 including details of in-course and end of Year assessments 

  • An introduction to some of the modules that run through Year 5 and to begin to define your learning needs as you move into your next module. 

  • Understand key skills in communicating with and examining patients 

 

You will then undertake six further 7-week horizontal modules in rotation: 

Semester One: General medicine and Family medicine contains three modules:  

Module 1: Ambulatory medicine including ambulatory adult and paediatric cases 

Module 2: Internal medicine specifically focused on patients requiring hospital admissions 

Module 3: Family medicine including community care settings 

Semester Two: Surgery, Peri-operative care, Trauma and Emergency care contains three modules: 

Module 4: General surgery I focusing on general surgical cases 

Module 5: General surgery II focusing on trauma and emergency care and peri-operative care 

Module 6: Orthopaedics and rehabilitation including palliative care
