CHMD 1202 Biochemistry and Molecular Biology

By the end of the course, students will be able to 

- Demonstrate the understanding of different types of macromolecules including nucleic acids, proteins, carbohydrates and lipids

- Describe the structure and function of DNA

- Describe the central dogma of molecular biology including the replication and transcription of DNA, the translation of messenger RNA into protein

- Describe the structure and function of proteins including enzymes

- Explain how cells communicate and respond using signal transduction

- Understand principles of metabolism and metabolic pathway
